So sorry you were spoken to like that by a dear family member. They suck. They make good people suck. They make good people say horrible things that they would never say ordinarily. It is just like the Borg, they implant things in their heads and they do what the collective wills, and those people who were good people and our loved ones, well they're just gone.
It sucks. I'm sorry. You are loved, don't forget it.

It was the first thing I read when my fade became truly permanent. A non-Hoho friend pointed out a NYTimes mag article about Joy's book, her finding it was a gift, I'll tell you. . .I ordered 3 copies. They are still circulating among my friends and co-workers.
The book is fabulous, it was also the first book my husband ever read for enjoyment (aka NOT meeting prep), and he cried because it mirrored his life so closely.
I emailed Joy, thanked her for the assurance and enlightenment the work provided us. It is as far from bitter as one can get after an experience like hers.

Suspicious JW activity? Anyone else had a visit lately?

it's their first visit since their last and only visit 2 years ago.. my dad called yesterday to say hi, i told him i was confused by his call since, i reminded him, he and my mom and my sisters and brother disowned me.
he even said they want to come for a visit, and they miss me (out of state), i told him that seems off.

Last Sunday, two elders came to our place, we peeked and didn't answer. It's their first visit since their last and only visit 2 years ago.
My dad called yesterday to say hi, I told him I was confused by his call since, I reminded him, he and my mom and my sisters and brother disowned me. He even said they want to come for a visit, and they miss me (out of state), I told him that seems off. He doesn't seem to remember the bitterness with which he and the others spoke to me--he said that in spite of my situation I'm still his daughter. I asked him what my situation is, he said that I left Jeh--ah, I added, that 'I'm in active', he said yes, and that as long as it doesn't become more that than, he's still my father. I reminded him that they told me I must be on drugs, and they said that they are no longer my parents, he said that's in the past and that as long as there's a chance. . .blah blah blah. . .He also asked for my address and we talked for 20 minutes. Of course, I was suspicious.
I am going to call him this afternoon to end the mind game. My husband and I are going to send a DA letter soon, but I wonder if I have a chance to open my dad's eyes, he's a mild person, and an elder and RP like my mom. He does everything she orders him to do as she is a terrible controlling bitch, but my dad's always been a kind person except for when my mom makes him say nasty things.
Any thoughts? Anyone had any recent surprise visits or calls?

How about the Brooklyn real estate, and the new projects, purchases and renovations there!? We're talking about some of the most expensive real estate on the planet, so why don't they sell it all, move the whole operation out here to southern Colorado where land is cheap. Then THEY can contribute to the worldwide work and to KH builds. Sick, sick.

A 2 week period would likely be easier to plan and do for most. . .How does September 1-15 sound? I know I could easily send 10 different letters and maybe a few copies in that time, and some might want to send several all at once, and even just one would be fabulous!!!

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

Scooby Doo. Rock and roll, sometimes, then sometimes it was ok. Lucky Charms cereal. Friends outside and friends inside, my mom believed that all I needed was her and my bible. R rated movies, then PG13 movies, then PG movies went away too--my parents had an assembly part about protecting your children from bad entertainment, where my dad said that PG meant 'pure garbage'.
In 2nd grade, my teacher said I was smart and should be in the gifted class, but my mother reasoned that it was drawing to much attention to ME by participating, so I abstained and remained bored in school. Then she pointed out that the Ute book had an chapter about boredom, I was then not allowed to be bored any longer.

I think that it may be illegal to send a letter from a false address and name, and esp with someone else's name and return address. That could be very bad for us individually and as a group. Plus, let's not lead the elder class to the doors of more innocents. I have no prob using my name and address.
Finally, the object is to collect as many responses from WTS as possible, it will be valuable to have as many of these as possible and to that end let's stay upfront and legal--the opposite of the WTS!!
